About Me

My name is Gerald “Allen” Antoine, and I’ve had passions, for games, music, and sound almost my entire life. I’ve been playing games ever since the fateful day in the mid 90s when my mother brought home a Super Nintendo and two original GameBoys for my brother and I to play with, and my interest in music started not long after that with a visit from the local high school marching band to my elementary school. It wasn’t until I got to play the original Halo and hear its amazing music and soundscape that I realized there was a place where my two great loves intersected, and from that point on I resolved myself to finding a place in the game industry creating sound and music for games.

My dream has led me far from my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. After high school, I attended the University of Memphis where I received my first bachelor’s degree in music business with a concentration in recording technology and a minor in music. This was, at the time, the closest thing I study to game audio, but it did not seem like it was going to be enough for me to get into the game industry. So, in 2010 I attended the Game Sound Con and Audio Engineering Society Convention in San Francisco with the goal of identifying my next steps. The answer was clear. “Come west, young man,” they said. So I did. In 2011, I hopped on a greyhound and came to the Bay Area. In 2012 I started attending classes at Ex’pression College, a private digital arts college in Emeryville, California. In 2015 I graduated with a bachelor’s in interactive audio.

I have spent eight long years since then trying to find my place in the game industry with no luck, but I have not given up hope. At the beginning of 2023 I returned to school to continue improving myself whilst simultaneously continuing to pursue game audio jobs.

When I am not hunting for jobs in the game industry, I enjoy playing games of all kinds, helping friends with music, game, or tech projects, giving back to my community, and working out in the gym. I love creative projects of any kind and always look for ways to use my skills and knowledge to help others.
